  • Samsung L74 Wide Digital Camera @ DCResource
The Samsung L74 Wide ($300) is a rather unique digital camera. Not for its design, wide-angle lens, SVGA movie mode, or huge touchscreen LCD, though all of those make it appealing. What really separates the L74 from the rest of the crowd its its enormous amount of onboard memory (450MB to be exact) and a built-in world travel guide. That`s right, the L74W can give you information (albeit very basic) about popular tourist destinations around the world. Can`t say that this is a feature I`ve always wanted, but a little break from the ordinary is always welcome.
  • Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R DDR2+DDR3 Mainboard @ Xbit-Labs
Today we are going to test a very attractive universal mainboard from Gigabyte that belongs to Ultra Durable 2 series. It boasts simultaneous support of DDR2 and DDR3 memory. Let’s find out what the cons and pros of this flexibility are.
  • Western Digital SE16 750GB HDD: "Quiet" a Performer @ AnandTech
Officially designated as being intended for high-performance desktop applications, the SE16 takes WD`s mainstream SE line one step further by increasing the drive`s cache to 16MB (vs. 8MB in the SE line), and adding WD proprietary technologies like SecurePark and Preemptive Wear Leveling (PWL). The resulting specifications allow for a 20% faster transfer rate (buffer to disk) than similar drives found on Western Digital`s SE line, as well as a notable reduction in power consumption. These factors, combined with Western Digital`s decision to extend the warranty of all Caviar-class drives purchased after August 1, 2007 to 3 years, gives Western Digital a powerful combination in their continued push for more retail market share.
  • ViewSonic VX2435WM TFT Monitor @ TFTCentral
Viewsonic detail their new 24" widescreen LCD display as "the perfect display for the serious professional gamer or digital entertainment enthusiast who wants great pictures in big-screen brilliance." The competition is fierce in the 24" sector at present, with a wealth of impressive, and well established, screens available at pretty reasonable prices nowadays. There`s the ever popular Dell 2407WFP, now updated even with HighColor 92% NTSC gamut in the new "HC" edition. The BenQ FP241W is impressive in features and functionality, and also comes with BenQ`s proprietary Black Frame Insertion (BFI) technology in the Z model (FP241WZ). So where does that leave the new Viewsonic VX2435WM?
  • The Samsung 245B: the 1st TN 24`` TN vs 24`` PVA, MVA... @ BeHardware
The latest news is that Samsung will launch the first 24 inch equipped with a TN panel, the SyncMaster 245B. More specifically, this display is a TN 5 ms. It doesn’t bring any technological miracles as much as it sets another precedent in the current price war; a 24 inch that goes below the 500 euro mark. This is something new and means we can now afford this product for the price of certain 22 inch screens or even a 20 inch, which are at the same price and are losing ground in terms of sales. For this reason, buying habits are about to change. Those who want to purchase a 22 inch, will have to think again, because 24"s offer serious advantages...
  • SanDisk Sansa Express (2GB) @ Trusted Reviews
It`s been a while since SanDisk appeared out of nowhere and launched its nano-beating e200 range of MP3 players. Our very own Gordon Kelly was highly impressed with the e260 and the range is due for another refresh very soon. We`re expecting the new line-up to offer even more features in a package that`s equally as competitively priced as the one before, but it`s been the subject of frustrating delays and now looks like it won`t be available for a good few months yet...
  • Canon PowerShot S5 IS Digital Camera @ DPReview
Our review of the PowerShot S5 IS, the latest in Canon`s enduringly popular 12X `super zoom` digital camera range. The new model ups the resolution and top ISO and adds face detection (of course), but also sports a swathe of feature enhancements including a larger screen and - for the first time - a flash hot shoe. But is it any good, and can it still compete with the 15x and 18x zoom models from Sony, Panasonic, Olympus et al? Find out in our full review after the link...
  • Ricoh Caplio GX100 Digital Camera @ DPReview
Our review of the Ricoh Caplio GX100 compact digital camera, nominally the successor to the GX8 but in spirit a lot closer to the GR-Digital. Key features for the keen photographer include a 24-72mm equivalent wide zoom, full manual control and the world`s first removable tilting electronic viewfinder. Oh and there`s a tiny 10MP sensor stuffed into the ultra-slim body too. Looks fantastic on paper, but what`s it like in the real world? Check out the review after the link to find out...
