How to FIX the 2D Problems on AXLE GeForce2 MX?
(serious article, but the fix is kinda funny)

Introduction

Yeah, you never know what a bad card you can purchase from unknown video card manufacturers such as AXLE. While they are extremely low clocked this isn't the only one problem, they often have reduced memory transfer bus, I mean the board, not the chip. For example a Savage4 board like Diamond Stealth III S540 (32MB PCI) is clocked at 143/125 mem/cpu. I have AXLE Savage4 32MB AGP board clocked at only 125/110 mem/cpu. Not a big deal, but sometime to select a working (i simple mean working) card you will change about 2-3 pieces. By the way AXLE's GeForce2 MX card has also a version working on 133Mhz (for the memory)... Anyway, In this article I will show you how to fix world's stupid 2D problems found on AXLE GeForce2 MX.

The 2D Problems

Well, what can you do when find 2D problems and no driver update can help to find the solution? Of course, contact the manufacturer, Triple D (AXLE is their trademark). He sent an e-mail and after a day or two there was an answer. I will post the full text of the message:

Dear Mr. Walker,

Thank you for selecting our Axle series VGA product.

I'm sorry to inform you that, your card is suffer from a missing ground signal on the DB15 VGA connector that shield the Green and Blue signals to the monitor. We had informed
our distributor of this and please return your card to the shop where it was bought for repair or replacement service.

Please find the attached photo which show how it looks after the rework for your interest. If, in case, you can manage to do the fix or would be interested to fix it by yourself,
please feel free to contact us for further detail.

Please accept our most sincere apology should this cause you any inconvenience.

Best Regards,
Solon Wu
Triple D International Ltd.

LOL. When I saw this e-mail there was a long HA-HA-HA session, together with my brother and my father... Aside from the very bad English (even better than mine :p), the problem seems to be very stupid.

Walker decided not to take it to the shop, he did the manipulation himself. The result killed the 2D problems and according to Walker the 2D Quality is now even better than ATi's Rage Fury VIVO/Pro.

Conclusion

Sometimes you'll be amazed from the hardware mistakes of card like AXLE GeForce2 MX. Finally, I will tell you that the distributor in my country hasn't stop selling these bad cards...
